Front-yard fences are limited to 36 in. tall. Individual sections can't exceed 20 ft in length, sections must be at least 10 ft apart, and total front-yard fence length can't exceed 100 ft. The fence must be at least 50% open when viewed head-on. Decorative fences at this height don't require a permit.
SSide Yard
Side-yard fences on lots of 2 acres or less are limited to 4 ft tall. Decorative post caps or finials are allowed, but the combined height of fence plus topper can't exceed 54 in. The fence must be at least 50% open.
BBackyard
Same as side yard on lots of 2 acres or less — 4 ft max, 54 in. total with decorative toppers. Privacy screens attached to the back of the house are allowed up to 5 ft, but only extending 16 ft beyond the rear wall and only covering two sides.
Permit Requirements
Any fence taller than 36 in. requires a zoning compliance permit before installation. Fences taller than 7 ft also need a building permit. Application requires plans, a site plan, a photo of the fence style, contractor info, and both post-hole and final inspections.
Setback Requirements
No fence is allowed inside the required front-yard setback area. Fences must stay entirely on your own property.

The finished, better-looking side of the fence must face outward toward neighbors and the street. Chain-link fences are prohibited in residential zones, and no barbed wire or electrified fences are allowed.
